1. Who we are

TrulyCar is operated by TrulyCar LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("TrulyCar", "we", "us"). These terms are an agreement between you and TrulyCar LLC governing your use of trulycar.com and the services offered on it. By using the site, creating an account, or buying a report, you accept them.

2. What the service is

TrulyCar offers two things. The VIN decoder and license plate search identify a vehicle from official regulatory filings and are free, with no account required. The vehicle history report is a paid product that compiles records tied to a specific VIN: title and salvage brands, reported damage, odometer readings, theft records, recalls, maintenance schedules, warranty terms, and market values.

Reports are compiled from government and industry data sources at the moment you order them. Each report includes free re-checks of the same VIN for 30 days from purchase.

3. Payments, packs, and credits

Every purchase is a one-time payment. We do not sell subscriptions, and nothing you buy renews or charges you again. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never receive or store your card number.

Reports are sold individually or in packs. Pack purchases add report credits to your account, each credit redeemable for one full report. Credits do not expire. Credits are personal to your account and are not transferable or redeemable for cash, except as described in the refund policy below.

4. Refund policy

If we cannot compile a report for a VIN you submitted, the remedy is automatic: a single-report purchase is refunded in full to your original payment method, and a report run from a pack credit has the credit returned to your balance.

Because a delivered report is information you have already received, completed reports are generally not refundable. If you believe something went wrong with your order, contact us and we will look at it case by case.

5. What we promise about the data, and what we cannot

We compile records from official government and industry sources, including NMVTIS title data and NHTSA specification and recall data, and present them accurately as received. We cannot promise those sources are complete. A vehicle event that was never reported, claimed, auctioned, or titled leaves no record for any provider to find, and data sources occasionally contain errors we did not introduce.

A report is a research tool, not a guarantee of a vehicle's condition, and not a substitute for a physical inspection by a qualified mechanic. Do not rely on a report as your sole basis for buying, selling, or valuing a vehicle.

6. Acceptable use

You may use the service to research vehicles for personal or business purchase decisions and related lawful purposes. You may not use it to attempt to identify or locate a vehicle's owner, to harass or stalk any person, or for any purpose prohibited by the Driver's Privacy Protection Act or other applicable law. Our reports contain vehicle records only and never include personal information about owners.

You also may not scrape, bulk-download, resell, or systematically reproduce the service or its data, interfere with its operation, or attempt to access accounts or systems that are not yours.

7. Your account

You are responsible for the accuracy of the email address on your account and for keeping your password confidential. Purchases made through your account are treated as made by you. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms, with any unused credits handled reasonably given the circumstances.

8. Intellectual property

The site, its design, its text, and its report formats belong to TrulyCar LLC or its licensors. Buying a report gives you a personal, non-exclusive right to use that report; it does not transfer ownership of anything else.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TrulyCar LLC's total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the purchase giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including decisions made in reliance on a report.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Changes to the service or these terms

We improve the service continuously and may change features over time. If we change these terms in a material way, we will update this page and its date; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. No change will retroactively take away credits you have already purchased.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Wyoming.
